Carol have you heard of any Benning updates? An illness or death in the family usually lasts for a week . We are now on week three and Trevor and Judd Brackett are handling the media stuff.

This was the Botchford update, that I put in Wednesday's blog:

His wife’s mother fell recently and as a result suffered brain hemorrhaging. Not long after, she was in a coma.

Jim returned home and was with his wife, Rhonda, and their family, when her mother died.

The service was (Tuesday).

Jim will be returning to Vancouver and his work this week.

Sounds like he's in Vancouver, rather than being with the team. Maybe will join up with them after the break?

I said it before ,if you are waiting for this team to be good before you bring in Demko then he may never see a NHL game in his lifetime.

Using that logic...hows it worked out for markstrom ? The best goaltender not in the NHL! Rushed straight into the league after 30 odd starts in the AHL. How's his career arc looking 8 full seasons later? I'll take overrippening in a competitive environment in the AHL then sitting up here on the bench watching marky and listening to clouts. Give him the odd show me start...then send him back. No goalie is changing this teams fortunes in the next year ....maybe two.

So are you suggesting not to bring him in because someone else failed? Logical

Until you change this sh1tshow it will always be a sh1tshow.

What about the 131 AHL games Marky played for Florida's AHL affiliates?

I'm suggesting not rushing ... say he does make a successful transition...completly outplays markstrom and becomes the starter. He s still got to play every night in this losing environment fishing five pucks a night out of his net. What's the benefit? He can stay in Utica... play with a handful of his future teammates and compete for a Calder cup ! The canucks are getting closer to competitive but they still have a ways to go. I'm with Makita... overrippen our prospects from here on out.

No future goalie should be put behind this current defense.

Stop using facts! We should just trade Demko now because he is a precious flower that can’t learn on a losing team. Let’s trade all prospects to protect their feelings!

Since being drafted 2 years at Boston College and 2 years in Utica. That is hardly rushing a player.

When he signed his contract and left college, he was given a development program that he and the Canucks agreed was best for him.
Part of that was that he would be on the Canucks when HE was ready, not when other players or the team was ready.
Breaking agreements like that will travel around the tight knit hockey community very quickly, hurting the çhances of bringing in free agents, other future signings of our drafted college players ie; Gaudette/Lockwood and players from Europe etc.
When the club thinks he is ready, you bring him up and give him opportunities.
